Mr. & Mrs. Moon

This is the week for McCoy Equestrian Center wedding photos. Later on, I’ll be posting Arianna and Caleb’s McCoy Equestrian Center wedding photos. But this is the time for Heather and Brad’s wedding, also at McCoy Equestrian Center, and I’ve been looking forward to sharing this wedding since I first set foot in the barn that July day. From top to bottom, this wedding was perfectly executed, with a special shout out to some amazing vendors: Tatiana and Rocky from Lucky Day Events Co. were amazing to work with (no surprise there! Check out their blog to see all the loveliness they’re responsible for), not only for their superb job coordinating, but also for pulling together all the pretty details in just the right way. I also loved getting to work with Flowers by Mae Mae again, and Meghan really outdid herself with the beautiful bouquets, and the wedding arch was to die for. (More on the vendor lineup later.)

Okay, not all  the reasons I loved Heather and Brad’s wedding have to do with the details. In fact, the biggest reason to love this McCoy Equestrian Center wedding is the newlywed couple themselves. Heather and Brad found their way into my heart in a hot second, pretty much from the very first meeting. In case they needed extra brownie points, after their engagement session I headed out for Mexican food and a movie… but not just any movie: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. It’s safe to say I loved everything about them even before their wedding day came around, but once I caught sight of Heather’s wedding gown, the beautiful colours of the bridesmaids’ dresses, and how it all came together perfectly for this July wedding, I were even more smitten than before.

One final note before I get to the pretty: Megan Kuethen Photographers starting a new thing here! Because we’re in love with the amazing albums couples have been ordering, we’re posting the album spreads instead of nice photo collages. No, they’re not Pinterest-able and I know it, but since I care more about representing my couples’ days as stories and less about trying to set the next wedding trend, and also because I blog to show what I really do for my couples (from the beginning experience to the final result), this is the best way to show off all the authenticity of them, us, and the beautiful artwork I create collaboratively.

lace and wedding shoes bride detail photos photos

Heather’s details were amazing!! Even though the details aren’t the most important part of the day (by far), photographing them is always such a beautiful way to start off the day. I loved everything from Heather’s flower accent for her wedding gown to her lace shoes and calligraphed invitation.

Aren’t these bridesmaids’ dresses dreamy? I love how the colours mix and match so beautifully and also give each bridesmaid the opportunity to find a colour and style that works for her! P.S. Brooklyn, our adorable flower girl? Yeah I just had to point out how great she was.

DYING with love over all the details and Heather’s beauty. First of all, have you ever seen a more stunning bride? Secondly, this bouquet by Flowers by Mae Mae is just insanely perfect in every way. Below, more goodness from Flowers by Mae Mae (that arch, though!) and these great signs that lined the path guests walked to the ceremony.

These barn doors were the perfect addition to the outdoor ceremony Heather and Brad dreamed up! Even though I’ve shot several weddings at McCoy Equestrian Center, I’ve never had a wedding ceremony take place in this exact location, and I loved their creativity and vision, how Lucky Day Events Co. brought it all together, and the light in this spot!

Cocktail hour was perfection at the Moon wedding, and yes, all the puns: “We’re over the moon for the details.” You know, more like that. Guests raved over Buttercup Catering‘s treats!

When Heather and Brad shared that they’d decided on In N Out for their wedding dinner, I instantly got hungry. (Like mouth-watering, and instantly had to go eat.) What better way to treat your guests than bring the In N Out truck to your wedding for the best burgers in Southern California?

Tatiana of Lucky Day Events Co. pulled double duty, working as the design mastermind behind the McCoy Equestrian Center wedding and also showing up as the Maid of Honour! I submit that she couldn’t have done any better on either front, and her toast to the couple was perfection itself.

Heather’s sweet first dance with her dad was so moving. I loved their relationship and this sweet daddy-daughter moment.

Dodger, Heather & Brad’s pup, was looking so sharp in his tie and cufflinks. A more dapper dog has never been seen at McCoy Equestrian Center!

Remember that time I had the most beautiful light for my McCoy Equestrian Center wedding photos? Sunset romantics with my brides and grooms are pretty much always a must, but Heather and Brad took it to a whole new level.

When I were reviewing their wedding album, I asked Heather if she wanted this photo of Brad making his funny face, and she said, “It wouldn’t be complete without it.” One of the things I most love about Heather and Brad is… well, like eighteen things, but first, I love that he always keeps her laughing, and second, I love that she loves him for his funny faces (and everything else).

Hello, gorgeous! This cake and the beautiful roses and succulents from Flowers by Mae Mae were a dream, and the way Lucky Day Events Co. set it all up was to die for.

MOST IMPORTANTLY: A huge thank you to Heather and Brad for letting me be a part of your wedding day. With every couple, it’s always an honour to be invited to tell a unique love story… and with every couple, there’s also an ineffable truth that this couple is my favourite couple ever, however much that does or doesn’t make sense. It’s true with Heather and Brad, for sure… but it’s also true that they burrowed themselves deeper into my heart than a lot of couples, and I’m proud and grateful to call them friends. So, Mr. & Mrs. Moon… it’s been a huge privilege to be more than your wedding photographer, but your friend; to have dinners with you and share dreams with you; and, maybe most importantly, maybe not, to tell stories.
