Mr. & Mrs. Pozzi

I’ve been dying to share Karla and Brando’s Living Desert wedding photos, and can’t believe that last week was their first anniversary already! Because I absolutely love weddings at the Living Desert, and even more than that, I love Karla and Brando, I was surprised to see I hadn’t already blogged these. All kinds of goodness will ensue. šŸ™‚

Karla and I clicked from the start, probably over a mutual love of detail-oriented emails. I guess my longwinded answers actually do make some people happy! I love that they booked without us ever even needing to meet or talk on the phone. On one of my many drives between Santa Barbara andĀ Orange County, we met up at Camarillo Grove Park to talk about their engagement photos, and I fell instantly in love with their dog, Percy. Oh, and them, too. If you want (and you should want), you can see their in-home engagement photos and their Camarillo Grove Park engagement photos.

But let’s get to the wedding!

The Living Desert wedding photos

Oh man, the team of vendors on this wedding was an absolute dream! As I already mentioned, I love the Living Desert. Far beyond that, though, every piece of this wedding was on point. And the best part about it? As picture perfect as their day was, Karla and Brando were resourceful! Karla herself put together the centrepieces for the reception tables, and the groomsmen donned suits they’ve owned for years (and worn to other weddings)! Erin Sims, one of Karla’s bridesmaids, put together the bouquets (and seriously, they’re gloriously beautiful bouquets), and Karla purchased her dress from PreOwnedWeddingDresses.com. So Karla and Brando had aĀ gorgeousĀ wedding, completely reflective of their personalities and life together.

Love the girls’ matching pajamas… almost as much as I love the lace on Karla’s blush wedding gown.

Btw, how snazzy is Brando in his suit?! If I could give out an award for best dressed groom, it would go to Brando. And they should consider him for GQ: Wedding Edition, if that’s a thing.

I always say that everything is my favourite ever, and I totally want to say this is my favourite first look ever. But every first look is special for its own reasons, and I think what I loved about this one was how intentional Karla and Brando were in writing letters to each other for this special moment on their wedding day.

The Living Desert is just so full of wonderful backdrops for photos! I love this little random doorway, and considering their colours, it was a great spot for some sweet photos of the two of them.

Okay, this carousel was so rad to do wedding party photos! And the Living Desert was awesome about closing it down for a few minutes so we could use it.

Wedding Ceremony at the Living Desert

It’s hard to decide whether to focus on how fun Karla and Brando’s wedding was, or how beautiful it was. Their ceremony was the perfect expression of both, with Brando’s dad officiating, the bridesmaids dancing down the aisle for the processional (seriously so amazing), personal vows, and (my favourite part of every wedding) Mr. & Mrs. Pozzi grinning as they walked back up the aisle, arm in arm, just at sunset. (The cafe lights above the Chase Administration patio didn’t hurt, either.)

Then I had a few minutes to abscond with the smiling couple for romantic photos in the desert. And let me tell you, I dream in these colours.

The Living Desert wedding reception

All the gorgeous details of Karla & Brando’s Living Desert wedding photos are just… beyond words. Gold flatware? Doilies as seating charts? Floating candles? Teal and blush? Seriously too much for me to even handle. Every single detail of this wedding reception was perfection.

Side note: One of the things I love most about the Living Desert are the strand lights above the reception area, which look like starbursts in the nighttime. Love love love!

So clever!! A churro bar instead of cake!!

Okay, so by the way? It was cold! The desert in January after sundown should have sent guests running to their cars as soon as dinner was over. Instead, my friend Allen (DJ A Dub, who also did Martha & Jason‘s wedding, and a few others I’ve yet to blog) kept everyone (literally, everyone) dancingĀ all night long. The power of a good DJ is never to be diminished!!

Top it all off with one of the most romantic grand exit photos I’ve ever seen (I love ribbon exits!), and this wedding went off without a hitch.

By far my favorite blog post of yours so far, Megan! Not just the details and love in your post, but the images and how you sting them together perfectly. You’re truly a talented story teller!
