Glamis Family Photos | California Desert Photographer | Bomgaars-Eynon Family

Yesterday, I promised you these Glamis family photos as the part 2 to Casey + Jason’s Glamis engagement photos! As I mentioned in that post, when I met Casey and Jason for coffee, they immediately impressed me with their love for each other and their sweetness. It was no surprise, then, that when it came time for their Glamis family photos, their kids were just as wonderful as they are.

These kids actually waited in the car whilst we did part 1, engagement photos, and didn’t kill each other (I don’t know how you grew up, but that would have been a miracle in my house), looked presentable when they got out (yeah… also wouldn’t have happened), had great attitudes (ha, not a thing when two Kuethen kids were together), and made this such a FUN session!! I was mega impressed.

I’ve never tried blending two families together, but since my brother and I barely got along growing up, I can only imagine the challenges of bringing new people into an already established family. Casey and Jason’s kids seem to have not only taken it well, but come to adore each other. It sounds so sappy, but it honestly warmed my heart to watch all three kids having fun together.

Side note: One of my favourite times of family sessions is doing individual portraits of everyone! Kids get to show off their personalities and have a little bit of fun with me, and even though parents literally always fight me on doing them, they end up looking great, and I can’t help but think it’s a nice thing for desks at work, backgrounds on phones, you know. 🙂 Plus, I like to believe it gives them a self-esteem boost (but maybe that’s just because I know all my clients are so super goodlooking, haha!).

Wild kiddos. 🙂 My favourite kind!

Okay ^^ you can see the storm was really starting to hit! The rain was sporadic but heavy in spots, the clouds kept getting crazy dark (and then darker… and then darker still!), but this family kept going and going! Seriously. My kind of people, yo!

Sand dunes are pretty much the funnest (made up word alert) place to set kids free! I’d love to do more Glamis family photos in the future… It was like a built in playground!

You know that emoji with hearts for eyes? Yeah, that was me when I looked out over the sand dunes and saw all this amazing weather happening!!

This. This right here. It honestly gets me super emotional. I can’t believe that I went years without shooting family sessions. But all of this silliness and joy? It’s the best. I could do this all day, every day, for the rest of my life.

Again with the crazy awesome picturesque-ness and the gorgeous colours of sand dune meeting storm…

I wish I could find another way to express gratitude over being invited in to moments like these. Every time I blog a wedding or a session, I find myself almost in tears, despite being so rarely emotional. This… getting to create this, to document this, to share this. It is the greatest honour and joy, something beyond words, so special and intimate. I quite accidentally fell into photography, but what a wonderful medium it’s been in my life for telling stories.

Casey, Jason, and family… You all. I just don’t have words. You’re the best, and that’s basically just that, okay? Okay.
